We wake up early, at six approximately. We have left the balcony door open overnight so we can hear the ocean from the bed, I remained with closed eyes, just listening. We slept well, it's quiet in the house and in the surroundings and the bed is so nice. When I finally open my eyes, I see our place, so elegant yet so functional and well thought out. No unnecessary furniture. Despite our things that have flooded the free surfaces, the room does not look messy, the room can handle our invasion.
I put on my bathing suit and we walk down to the beach. It only takes a few minutes, then we are there. We are almost alone, just us and some other morning beach walkers, including some are dogs... We are wondering if we should go left or right? It is big issues like this we have to rule on when on holiday ... The sun begins to warm properly. The water is already warm. The feeling of freedom and happiness is strong here.
Back in the house again and I sit in a wicker chair on the balcony with a cup of coffee, Yngve is taking a shower in our outside shower! It is so wonderful, especially at night when it is a bit cool out there - taking a hot shower outside in the cool air - lovely. We have shower inside too ...
Breakfast. Christa has succumbed to us on the porch, we sit in the shade overlooking the valley and the mountains opposite. Yoghurt with muesli and honey. A large plate of Kiwi, Mango, Papaya, Apple, Pear, Pineapple. Fresh brewed coffee and hot milk. Toasted bread with jam, cheese or butter from a local dairy. And best of all, especially prepared for us vegetarians - a super-fresh salad with cucumber, tomato, avocado, broccoli, sprouts, pine nuts, green peas and sugarsnaps. With olive oil and sea salt.
We sit there a long time. The room inside, where we eat breakfast if we do not sit outside is a room that I would like to take home with me. There is such harmony, the colors , the inviting couch, the carpets with it's warm colors, a bit rusty tones. The light comes from two sources, there are sliding glass doors on both sides - it makes the room airy and cool but still it does not feel cold ..
Staying at Christiania Guest Lodge is just as fantastic as described but it's not the house, the sea or breakfast that stands out most - it is the receiving, it's Christa's and her staff's fantastic response. Nothing is impossible, all we needed help with, all of our problems - all were treated with a natural, honest and sincere willingness to help - to fix it for us as we wanted it!

Stayed for 2 nights with a pal for the football , as a stop off on route from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. Lovely lady, superb rooms, great lounge, and fantastic breakfasts. If i was holidaying for longer in this area would certainly choose Christiana Lodge.
Celeste Vlok, Australia:
The surrounding area is amazing and its barely a 5 min walk to the beach! The rooms are spacious and beautiful, modern without losing the warmth of home.

Christa is a great host, passionate about meeting new guests and aims to make their stay as pleasurable as possible. The hotel is newly built, decorated with taste, impeccable clean and provides everything you need, one room even has an outdoor shower. Its situated 5mins from a great beach, (although limited sea views) huge and white sand and 10mins from robberg park, which provides an amazing 2hr hike to see the seals.
Christa provided us with some very good restaurant recommendations, such as Nguni in Plett which she booked for us too, as is always on hand for information and advice on sightseeing ecc. The breakfast is wonderful too....in a lovely room there is a great choice of fresh fruit, granola, yogurt, fresh cappuccino and of course cooked breakfast.
I really enjoyed my stay at Plett and would thoroughly recommend christiana lodge for families, friends and couples!

I stayed at Christiana lodge several times over the past months while our house was being built. Christiana is in all respects an oasis for the weary traveler. It offers a stylish yet relaxed stay in a beautiful and quiet location, yet in close proximity to all that Plett has to offer. The rooms and the communal areas are beautifully appointed. The sofas on the stoep, overlooking the marsh, are deep and soft and the coffee is excellent. Breakfasts are generous.
The staff is kind and attentive without being overbearing.
A jewel of a place.
